UAE cargo
The UAE cargo industry maintains an importance place in the world industry.Since diversification into non-oil products and services the Middle-East has been doing very well in the transport and logistics sector. Moreover the imports and exports among the Gulf countries of the Middle East has increased manifold and with this the transport and UAE logistics industry has also developed phenomenally.
Responding to this trend of intense market demand and also to help support and sustain the development of the UAE cargo, a slew of international trade events were organized in the Middle East to showcase the transport and logistics industry facilities. These facilities include air cargo, freight transport, ports management and materials handling.
International trade organizations are of the view that there is immense scope for growth potential in the Middle East. According to them this potential particularly for the logistics and transport sector is 25% more than North or South America. Most international operators have now included their existing trade routes and infrastructure in the Middle-East as a part of their business expansion strategies.
The UAE cargo is developing globally, regionally and locally in the realm of transport and logistics which is further augmented by the growth of global and regional trade between Europe and Asia. Thus UAE cargo is in the midst of these opportunities because of its strategic geographic location and easy accessibility.
As the region is considered as a key East-West trading hub because of its strategic geographic location you can get access to major Asia-to-Europe and Asia-to-Africa trade routes. UAE’s rapid growth is fuelled by skyrocketing oil revenues and now the regional economies of this region are also gradually becoming accessible to the outside world which is providing the boost to its shipping sector. This has led to frantic development plans in the region to expand its regional ports. The rapid development of UAE shipping ports is a good sign for UAE cargo.
On the other hand steps are being taken by the UAE government by joining hands with some reputed organizations to operate the Khalifa Port and a free trade and logistics zone in Taweelah. The UAE government is providing the necessary backing to sustain this growth and also to trigger economic expansion which can be only possible by developing projects with support from the private sector. The Khalifa Port which has an area of 2.2 sq km will house a multi-purpose port and will commence its operation by the end of 2010.
Plans are also afoot to create state-of-the-art facilities at Taweelah and to achieve this government is partnering with some of the reputed business entities of the world. Once completed, these projects will give a new dimension to UAE cargo operations. In addition the Jebel Ali Port and Port Rashid of Dubai are also growing at a steady rate of 20%, and this speaks of a healthy economic growth all through the Middle East.
An ultra-modern logistics park has also been set up Al Jazera Al Hamra industrial zone. As the Middle-East has developed into an important logistics and transportation hub it is strengthening its role in global trade. This has prompted major international organizations to set up their production facilities and also to build up stocks leading to an increased demand for UAE cargo.
